== SSH Tunneling to get around blocked ports ==

Ports blocked? Try this:

* On your laptop, execute:
ssh -f -N -L 9999:chat.freenode.net:6667 machine.I.have.rights.on

...where chat.freenode.net:6667 is the machine/port you want to eventually get to, machine.i.have.rights.on is...well, that, and 9999 is an empty port on your local machine.

You'll be prompted for a password if you need one, after which you can put it in the background.

Then you can set up your chat software to talk to localhost:9999 and you're set.

==== Werewolf ====

C4Libbers, come play a round or two of werewolf this evening! (Wednesday) No experience necessary. And a round doesn't take that long.

TIME & PLACE CHANGE!!! New info: 6:15pm, Handel Room (Temple level).

Matt Gillooly, a great guy who's a programmer and among other things is a member of the providencegeeks.org crew, will come with a couple of other providence geeks and run a game for us.

FYI, I first heard about werewolf from a pycon blog post complaining about less post-conference hacking 'cause everyone was playing werewolf, followed by a sxsw blog post raving about having fun playing it -- had to check it out. -Birkin

== Things To Do: Thursday ==
Rhode Island Philharmonic
[http://vmari.org/inner/events/ripo-rush-feb26.php Rush Hour Series] @ 6:30pm, $37-45

Chief Justice FRANK WILLIAMS narrates Copland's Lincoln Portrait on a program which includes Britten's Four Sea Interludes from Peter Grimes and selected movements from Shostakovich's Symphony No. 9.

The concerts begin at 6:30 and last approximately 75 minutes, with repertoire selected from the full-length Classical Series concerts the Orchestra will perform on the subsequent Saturday evenings. Informality is a key to this series. The concert ambiance is relaxed with Larry and Patrice talking about the music as the concert progresses. At the end of each concert Larry comes back onstage for a question and answer session with audience members.

* Souvenirs
** The exemplar "regional food item" for Rhode Island is coffee syrup. What's coffee syrup? It's just like chocolate syrup, except coffee flavored. I encourage you to go to the grocery store and buy some. Autocrat is the traditional "this is what coffee syrup is" brand for people who have never seen the stuff, but Eclipse (made, strangely enough, by Autocrat) is better tasting.
