===Welcome to Washington D.C!===

Most people know the District of Columbia as the home of our nation's capital, but we're also proud of being the capital of FREE. Explore museums and galleries like the newly opened National Museum of African American History and Culture, see a performance at our National Kennedy Center, or connect with nature at our Botanical Garden, Arboretum, or National Zoo. Our food scene is also making waves. We were rated '2016 restaurant city of the year,' and in 2017, we joined New York, San Francisco and Chicago with a Michelin Guidebook. Voted the #1 transit-friendliest city and #2 most walkable city in the United States, D.C. makes getting around between all of these amenities painless and safe. Furthermore, with three airports (DCA, IAD, BWI) and Amtrak, D.C. is a destination that is easy and relatively inexpensive to get to. It's a great time to come to Washington D.C.!
===The Conference===
We're currently investigating venues for a February 2018 conference that can accommodate roughly 400-(~450 ) attendees and meet Code4Lib's technical requirements.
Pre-conference workshops would take place in several of our metro-accessible DC Public Library neighborhood branches, and we're looking at throwing the opening reception at the Library of Congress.
