update upload instructions
For now we There are entering article two ways to get metadata into DOAJ the Directory of Open Access Journals: 1) by hand, or 2) through the use of an XML file. This ''(UPDATE 2014-01-22: DOAJ says, "Until further notice, publishers will eventually put only able to upload article metadata to us in OAISter, as well as DOAJ's own using an XML file...Temporarily, publishers will no longer be able to submit metadata to us on an article-level search functionby-article basis. If you are unable to produce the XML file, injecting our articles into we suggest that you wait until we have reinstated the wider findable worldarticle-by-article upload feature.")'' Before you do either method, please keep in mind the following things:
Some metadata peculariaties of ours # We chose not to have volume numbers, just issue numbers. Issue numbers will just keep incrementing.# We decided that come the "record number" for an article is the article-id that shows up when entering data:in the WordPress URI. That is, they are not sequential, numbers are skipped. That's fine. So there is no 'start page', but there is a 'record number'; there is no 'end page'.# Enter the abstract and authors affiliation exactly as found in our published articles.# Enter keywords if there are any. If not, leave this blank
1) We chose not to have volume numbers, just issue numbers. Issuenumbers will just keep incrementing.==Semi-Automated==
2) We decided that To use the "record number" for an article is the article-idXML file to do data entry:that shows up in # make sure the WordPress URI. That databases is, they are not sequentialup-to-date,numbers are skipped# go to http://journal. That's finecode4lib. So there org/issues/issue#/feed/doaj (replace # with the current issue number) to get the necessary XML. (eg http://journal.code4lib.org/issues/issue5/feed/doaj.)# edit the XML [http://journal.code4lib.org/doaj/ so each author is no 'start pagein a element by themselves], # validate the XML against the Directory's schema, but thereis #* Download a copy of the DOAJ schema, http://www.doaj.org/static/doaj/doajArticles.xsd , to your computer along with the XML file you'record number'; there is no 'end page've just edited. #* Upload both files to a schema validator service such as http://tools.decisionsoft.com/schemaValidate/ # Go to the URL listed in the article tracking spreadsheet (administrivia tab) and upload the fruits of your labors.
3Note: if there are any sub-elements in the XML fields (e.g., HTML tags) Enter , the abstract and authors affiliation exactly as foundin our published articlesdocument will not validate. Also of note, Windows often creates character encoding that breaks with UTF-8, throwing an error on validation.
4) Enter keywords if there are anyMore info about the feed and how to customize the XML for import into DOAJ:* http://journal.
